Sharks don’t get cavities! Jealous?
What makes sharks unique, is shark teeth have built-in cavity protection. The shark tooth is tougher than bone, and the surface of their teeth contains 100% fluoride. Yes: coated in fluoride. For a human it would be, essentially like having a permanent coating of toothpaste on our teeth.
Another human affliction sharks don’t deal with is tartar buildup. Tartar buildup and plaque can cause gum disease — the result (for the most part) of our affinity for sugar. Sugar on its own is not the culprit. Rather, the process our mouths go through afterward is to blame.
The best thing humans can do to keep our teeth healthy is by maintaining good oral hygiene and keeping routine dental visits a habit.
